Remember the Boston Teaparty! Do not pay unreasonable taxes! We own the country, and our elected officials are our servants. We must remember this key concept. We the people are in charge. If we act together, our precedent will be established. Let us challenge our servants to develop a more responsible solution to their fiscal imbalance.

We, the people of Center Township, Washington Township, and the other townships of Marion County must act responsibly, and NOT pay the unreasonable property taxes our servants have suggested that we pay.

As a Finance Professor, a Valuation Expert, and an M.B.A., I believe property taxes are generally a bad economic incentive to home ownership. I believe the recently suggested tax increases are fundamentally ridiculous.

The suggested property taxes we have recently seen - if left unchallenged - will damage Indianapolis. Carmel, Zionsville, Fishers, Greenwood and other suburban communities will benefit while Indianapolis is burdened with irresponsible property tax levels.

Economically, this will lower demand for local housing within Indy neighborhoods, destroying home values.

I urge all homeowners who read this post: DO NOT PAY THE SUGGESTED TAXES. We are the owners of this country. Government officials work for us!
